Windows Phone 7

The goal for Microsoft’s latest smartphone is an ambitious one: to deliver a phone that truly integrates the things people really want to do, puts those things right in front of them, and either lets them get finished quickly or immerses them in the experience they were seeking. The result is Windows Phone 7, which will make its debut in some European markets on Oct. 21 and in time for the holidays in the U.S. The phone uses an elegant operating system that is very different from the current trend toward app-focused phones. Instead it provides active and configurable interface elements called tiles that update on the fly with real information, allowing users to place the tiles that interest them most where they want on their Start screen. Facebook photos, music and contacts are pulled into the phone and distributed appropriately across Hubs. It also brings together many of Microsoft’s popular offerings from other platforms, including Xbox, Zune, Office and Bing.

The new phone is an important step for Microsoft in three ways. To begin, it is a completely fresh start for Microsoft in smartphones. Second, it represents a new approach from Microsoft toward integrating products and services from across the company into the phone to create a richer experience and greater productivity. Hence the presence of Office, Zune and Xbox LIVE and their integration within the Hub model. And finally, the new phone approach is critical to Microsoft’s efforts to make new gains in the huge smartphone market, which despite the success of the iPhone and Android is still relatively untapped globally. Further information on the Windows Phone 7 is available here.

Versace LG Colabo Drop June 2010

Article Via Licious :
Versace Unique is hand-assembled in France, the face is constructed from pure high-tech ceramic or handmade lacquers delicately framed with an 18K yellow gold finish or 316L grade stainless steel inlay. The back is wrapped in the finest handcrafted leather, embossed with the Medusa head. According to the press release, the Versace Unique sapphire crystal screen is the largest single piece of this high-tech material ever produced for consumers. Impossible to scratch, smooth and receptive, it provides an ideal conductivity and precision control of the touchphone interface. Sounds pretty amazing, “impossible to scratch” that’s a must for touchscreen!

All the beauty of the exterior aside, if the phone doesn’t have advanced technology it’s basically useless (for many of us). LG worked on the technology, Versace Unique handles all the duties of a phone featuring 3G network, e-mail, media player, 5-megapixel flash camera and netbook (I’d liked to check this out!). It also features unprecedented Dolby Mobile surround sound technology for high quality in ringtones, MP3 music files and video with 30 hours of playtime.

Woodgrain Touch Phone...Jai Sick

The design work of Ryuichi Sakamoto – the Kuronan Cruiser and the Bearbricks were favorites of ours. His Touch Wood Phone for NTT Docomo may have trumped them both. “The phones are being created as a joint venture with the ‘more trees’ reforestation project founded by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto and others. They are made with specially treated wood from the thinned forests in Japan managed by the ‘more trees’ project. Each handset is unique featuring the particular grains, patterns and natural coloring of the tree from which it was made.” (luxist)
