Takashi Murakami “A Picture Of The Blessed Lion Who Stares At Death” Painting

For those in the New York area, this marks the last week of Takashi Murakami’s art exhibition “Picture of Fate: I Am But A Fisherman Who Angles in the Darkness of his Mind” at the Gagosian Gallery. Within the exhibit is a large-scale masterpiece titled “A Picture Of The Blessed Lion Who Stares At Death” as it combines various aspects of Murakami’s signature superflat styles. Kaikai Kiki Dokura Ring

The design of Takashi Murakami has now also made its way to jewelry. KaiKai Kiki will release the Dokura Ring. The ring will come in silver, white gold with diamonds and yellow gold with diamonds. Takashi Murakami x Pharrell Williams x Jacob & Co Sculpture

Here it finally is. We have heard about this for a while and now we can finally show you pictures of the Takashi Murakami x Pharrell Williams x Jacob sculpture, which was made for the Art Basel fair this year. Murakami created a sculpture and Jacob the jeweler re-created some of Pharrell’s products of choice in premium metals and diamonds. The blinged out objects, including a Pepsi can, Ice Cream Sneakers, Cupcake, Doritos and a condom, have been placed in the mouth of the Takashi Murakami sculpture.

The sculpture is being exhibited from today at the booth of Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin at Art Basel.

Louis Vuitton announces the retrospective exhibition of masterpieces created by artist Takashi Murakami at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain from February 17th to May 31st 2009.

About the Exhibition

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao will present ©MURAKAMI, the most comprehensive retrospective to date of the works of Takashi Murakami. The exhibition will feature more than 90 artworks in various media including painting, sculpture, installation, and film. Included will be iconic works that track the ongoing evolution of Murakami's anime alter ego DOB, his otaku-inspired figure projects of the late ‘90s, an archive of licensed Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd. merchandise that spans Takashi Murakami's entire career, and a retrospective of his creations for Louis Vuitton since 2003.
